Booking Terms and Conditions
These terms apply to courses, classes, workshops and private sessions booked with The Wonky Potter. Please read them carefully before booking.
BOOKINGS AND PAYMENT
Your place is confirmed once full payment has been received.
Bookings are for the specific course, dates, times and location shown at the time of booking. Please check that you can attend before completing your purchase.
Places cannot be reserved without payment and are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Where a payment provider such as Klarna is used, your separate agreement with that provider will also apply.
COURSE BOOKINGS
Courses are booked and paid for as a complete term. The course fee reserves your place for every advertised session, regardless of whether you attend.
Course places cannot be divided into individual sessions, partially refunded or carried over into another term.
MISSED CLASSES AND CATCH-UPS
If you miss a class, the session is non-refundable and does not become credit owed to you.
Missed sessions cannot be:
• carried forward into another term
• exchanged for a workshop, throwing session or private lesson
• converted into studio time
• transferred to another person
• replaced with an additional or individually arranged class
If you give reasonable notice, one courtesy catch-up may be offered during the same term by joining another existing class.
Catch-ups are subject to a suitable space being available and are offered entirely at our discretion. They cannot be guaranteed.
Catch-ups must take place within the term originally booked. Unused or unavailable catch-ups expire at the end of that term.
The Wonky Potter is unable to run separate make-up sessions or guarantee an alternative class around personal commitments, holidays, illness, work or transport difficulties.
CANCELLING A COURSE
If you cancel at least 14 days before the course begins, you may request a refund.
Cancellations made less than 14 days before the course begins are non-refundable unless your place can be filled by another paying student. Any refund offered in these circumstances may be reduced by unavoidable payment-processing or administration costs.
Once a course has started, course fees are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to a later term.
All cancellation requests must be made in writing by email.
You may transfer your complete course booking to another suitable person before the course begins, provided you contact us first and we agree to the transfer.
WORKSHOPS, TASTER SESSIONS AND PRIVATE BOOKINGS
Full payment is required to secure a workshop, taster session or private booking.
Cancellations made at least 14 days before the booking may be refunded or transferred to another available date.
Cancellations made less than 14 days before the booking are non-refundable unless the place can be filled.
No refunds, credits or alternative dates will be provided for non-attendance or cancellations made within 48 hours of the booking.
Any alternative date offered is discretionary, subject to availability and may only be changed once.
CANCELLATIONS BY THE WONKY POTTER
If The Wonky Potter cancels a class or session, we will offer an alternative date, an appropriate credit or a proportionate refund.
We may need to change a tutor, project, session date or course content where reasonably necessary. We will give as much notice as possible.
If a course cannot run because minimum booking numbers have not been reached, students will be offered an alternative or a full refund.
ARRIVAL AND LATENESS
Please arrive in time to begin at the advertised start time.
Demonstrations and important safety information may be given at the beginning of a session. If you arrive late, teaching already delivered may not be repeated.
Very late arrival may result in you being unable to take part if it would be unsafe or significantly disrupt the class. No refund or replacement session will be provided in these circumstances.
CLAY, MATERIALS AND FIRING
Tools and shared studio equipment are provided unless the booking description says otherwise.
Clay, specialist materials and firing may carry an additional charge. These charges will be explained during the course or shown in the booking information.
Only clay and materials approved by The Wonky Potter may be used in the studio or placed in its kilns.
Work will not be fired until any applicable clay or firing charges have been paid.
CERAMIC WORK AND FIRING RISKS
Ceramics involves unavoidable risks. Work can crack, warp, break, change colour or be damaged during drying, glazing or firing.
The Wonky Potter will take reasonable care of your work but cannot guarantee the outcome of any piece or accept responsibility for faults caused by the nature of clay, glazes, construction methods or the firing process.
Firing may be refused if work is considered unsafe, unsuitable, excessively thick, insufficiently dry or made from unidentified materials.
Estimated firing and collection times are not guaranteed. Please allow approximately six to eight weeks unless advised otherwise.
COLLECTION OF WORK
You will be notified when finished work is ready to collect.
Work should be collected within eight weeks of notification. Due to limited storage, work not collected within this period may be recycled or disposed of.
Please contact us if you cannot collect within that time.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
Students must follow all studio safety instructions and use tools and equipment as demonstrated.
Closed-toe shoes must be worn. Long hair should be tied back, loose clothing secured and jewellery removed where necessary.
Food must not be consumed in working areas. Drinks must be kept in sealed containers.
Dry sweeping and the creation of clay dust are not permitted. Students must use the wet-cleaning methods provided.
Equipment, wheels and specialist materials may only be used with permission and appropriate instruction.
The Wonky Potter may ask someone to stop an activity or leave the studio if their behaviour or use of equipment creates a risk to themselves or others.
CONDUCT
The Wonky Potter aims to provide a welcoming and supportive studio.
Students must treat tutors, visitors and other students respectfully. Discriminatory, threatening, abusive or persistently disruptive behaviour will not be accepted.
Anyone whose behaviour seriously affects the safety, wellbeing or learning of others may be asked to leave. In serious cases, their remaining booking may be cancelled without a refund.
ACCESS AND INDIVIDUAL REQUIREMENTS
Both the Munns studio and Clubbs Yard Studios are accessed by a flight of stairs and do not have step-free access.
Please contact us before booking if you have an access requirement, disability, allergy, medical condition or other need that may affect your participation. We will discuss reasonable adjustments wherever possible.
Students remain responsible for deciding whether a course or activity is suitable for them and for following any relevant medical advice.
PERSONAL BELONGINGS
Personal belongings are brought into the studio at your own risk. The Wonky Potter cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage unless caused by our negligence.
Aprons are recommended, as clay and ceramic materials may stain clothing and footwear.
PHOTOGRAPHY
We may occasionally ask permission to photograph activities or finished work.
You may decline to be photographed. Images in which you are identifiable will not be used for promotional purposes without your permission.
GIFT VOUCHERS
Gift vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase unless otherwise stated.
Vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash and must be used before their expiry date. All bookings made with a voucher remain subject to these terms.
CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
These terms may be updated when necessary. The terms applying to your booking will be those available when the booking was made.
